An absolute must stop when going by Smokey Lake. Betsy's offers great home made burgers and the thickest milkshakes around.
my personal favorite is the double bacon burger and crinkle cut fries. Betsy herself usually greets customers with a smile at the counter. Outdoor tables are also nice in the summer. -

We were roadtripping from YEG to Bonnyville and wanted to make as many stops as we could and Betsy's Burger shack came up as a recommended destination. Now it was a quiet Saturday in town and the whole place was dead quiet except for Betsy's so that's a good sign right off the bat. There were a few picnic tables outside as well as seating inside. The menu is plentiful with lots of burgers, fries, shakes, ice cream, and diner type sides to fuel you up. Also, the pricing was great in my opinion. Under $4 for a burger? Not to shabby. We shared a cheeseburger, water, and zucchini sticks and it was all excellent. I'd definitely stop in again to breakup a long drive.

Have been to Betsy's many times for the burgers and especially the milkshakes. It is a small place with a diner decor and you will see Betsy behind the till taking your order with a smile. The milkshake flavours are wonderful and there are plenty to choose from, in addition, the shakes are full of flavour and have the right consistency. Betsy's have great burger choices, quick service and good food quality. Good comfort food that tastes great and the prices are fair.

In its category -- cheap and cheerful -- Betsy's Burger Shack more than holds its own. The food is plentiful, the welcome is warm, and the service is quick. The downside to being inexpensive is that there is a reliance on more processed food than I would like, but that's how it is when there's a focus on extreme value. All in all, Betsy's Burger Shack is a good pit stop if you find yourself on the way to or from Cold Lake. Recommended.
